sent shock waves through my body and jolted me out of sleep making my eyeballs as big as saucers. Ev- ery nerve in my body
was frazzled causing me to shake, rattle, and roll. My flannel PJ’s were trembling like leaves on a windy day. I sat straight up in bed confused with crazy thoughts racing through my head. “What in the world? Where is Joe?” “I had gone to bed at midnight leaving Joe studying for an exam.” “It’s the middle of the night... but where is Joe?” Still shaking, I leaped out of bed to see what was going on. After all, I had heard that rebel yell before in playful jest but never in seething anger. Thankfully, our two sons, David, a kindergartener and Greg, a preschooler, miraculously slept
soundly right through the excitement!
Our Air Force family had moved to Omaha,
Nebraska for six months so Joe could study
at the University of Omaha and complete
his college education through the Boot-
strap Program. Most of his study time was
spent on a chemistry course that the profes-

wrote a great and popular book, “The Seven Habits of High- ly Effective People.” I highly recommend it. But while his book
has a lot of good prin-
ciples all of us would do well to incorporate it into our lives. It does not specifically lead one to Christ but I would like to take this opportunity to put
his habits in a Christian perspective.

Mark 16:15 (NIV): He said to them, “Go
into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Now that is what I call being Pro-active. Jesus told us time and again that we should evangelize. We should point oth- ers to Christ. When we do so we offer them the opportunity to partake with us eternally with Jesus Christ in Heaven.
