Moving forward

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
Just a little more than a week ago my next older brother and his wife were instantly killed in a violent auto wreck. Life changed for their chil- dren, grandchildren and the two little great grandchildren in that instant. So what happens when family, friend or good neighbors are sud- denly taken from this life? We mourn the loss but if we are confident that they are in heaven our sadness is mixed with anticipation. We will be with them again!
Our lives can move forward in the middle of pain. Sorrow does not have to debilitate us. We
weep but we know that we have hope.
At the graveside I shared these verses from the end of 1 Corinthians 15.
Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twin- kling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperish- able, and we shall be changed. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52.56-58
I hope you accept these promises and chal- lenges with me.
Happy moving forward putting our sorrow on the Lord Jesus.
