WHAT DO CHRISTIANS DO FOR FUN?
The other day a lady came into our furniture store that caused me to do some real reminiscing. She was the daughter of a Nazarene Preacher/
Evangelist, Rev Bob Gray.
I met Bob Gray when he came to our church foraspecialservice. Laterthatweekhemade anappointmenttovisitinourhome. Atthat time he was head of the Nazarene office for assisting members in estate planning, and, of course, that was the prime reason he had come out to our home.
But as we sat at our dining room table, Bob no- ticed my Lake Amphibian Airplane sitting in frontofourhousebyLakeMurray. Hesud- denly became very excited. “Hey,” he said, I always wanted to fly in one of those things up toCanadawhereIusedtogofishing. IfIhad one of those seaplanes, I would be able to go places and fish where others are not able to go. It would be a great time.”
Well, he got so excited about the idea, that I told himweoughttoplansuchatrip. Myyoungest son, Keith, was just a teenager at the time and I

It was one of those days when it was pouring down rain in buckets like it can only do in Alexandria,
Louisiana. The kind of rain that makes one think alligators are fall- ingoutofthesky. The
kindofthunderthatshakesyourbones. The kind of lightening bolts that streak through the darkened sky putting on a display more beau- tiful than the laser show at Stone Mountain, Georgia. Itwasoneofthosedays.
It was one of those days when one wants to hunker down in the warm dry comfort of the living room until the storm passes by. It was one of those days when one curls up on a sofa, pulls a soft cuddly blanket up to the waist while “wait- ingout”thefuryofthestorm. Onehopesthe electricity stays on while turning the pages of “GoneWithTheWind.” Outsidethemove- ment indicates leaves, trash can lids and debris are truly gone with the wind, but inside you are safe and dry reading about the escapades of ScarlettO’Hara. Likeanysanepersonwould do on one of those days.
