e’ve already seen how Nehemiah en-
countered mockery and ridicule by means of discouragement from the devil. Jesus was also tempted by the devil but this is what happened; “Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement.” (Mark 5:- 41-42).
Can we follow Jesus’ example about fac- ingthescoffers? IfJesuscouldn’toperatein faith around the nonsense, we sure cannot. You cannot change their minds nor change
their doubt and unbelief, which can infect our thinking. Some people think they can hang out in a Church where the Word isn’t going forth and still live a strong, faith-filled life. Don’t be deceived. As Paul said, “a little leaven, leavens the whole loaf ” (1Cornthians 5:6). A little bad teaching will infect your thinking and undermine your faith.

When we start stepping out in faith, people around us will begin to make fun of us or sometimes disbelieve us. This is when the devil starts trying to be successful in getting us off so don’t be surprised if things start getting
