After further investagation, Jasmine’s papa’ explained to her that Booster.com was not the way to go and perhaps she could get her T- shirts printed locally at a better price. Booster. com offered her a deal to sell the T-shirts for $20 each. Her customers would go to the Booster.com website to purchase the T-shirts for $20. The cost for their online service is $18 and Jasmine would make only $2 per T-shirt. Jasmine was so excited about the T-shirt, she didn’t do the math. She just wanted to get her T-shirts printed so she could get busy helping to feed the homeless. Her papa’ helped her order the shirts locally from Perfect Printing.
Jasmine is not only being encouraged to con- sider the least of these by her parents. This year her fourth grade class had a “Giving Back Project” during lent. They made greeting cards for the elderly in nursing homes; gave
cleaning supplies for the Ronald McDonald House; gave items to Pets Incorporated for their thrift store, gave nonperishable foods to Harvest Hope and they gave personal hy- giene items to Oliver Gospel Missions. She also serves on Sunday by serving the bread and washing dishes at Victory Ecumenical Church.
Her goal to raise $2,000 this year to help feed the homeless. She is also hoping to show her peers that the homeless people they see in the Library, sleeping on benches in the park and walking around with all of their belonging in a shopping cart are our neighbors. She says, “I wants my peers to know that they can join me on this mission making it an ongoing project to make our community better and safer for everyone.”
