The Lord took me to Titus 2:3-5 (NIV ), “3 Teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God”. These scriptures give us instructions for godly living, which provides the resourc- es we need to effectively mentor younger women. It’s simple for women to invest in each other’s lives growing in Christ together, developing godly relationships that will change the world one woman at a time. We must keep in mind that god- ly women aren’t perfect, and are always learning as well as teaching. As we open our hearts and minds to God through Jesus Christ, trusting Him, we will come to understand that we are all different. Our godliness is not measured based on the godliness of other women or the Proverbs 31 woman. God created each of us for a purpose and we are all unique. Yet he created us all to be holy. Our god- liness is measured by the anointing God has on our lives and our personal com- mitment to Jesus Christ. We all strug- gle in being faithful and submissive to God’s design. We are learning from our mistakes and discovering that the bless-
ings of God are heaped upon the one who faithfully trusts Him in all situ- ations.
As Titus 2 women, we live our lives as an example to our husbands, other women, our children and all in our community. God is in everything we do. Older women are challenged to encourage and teach the younger, not just with their words but also with their lives. It is the younger women’s responsibility to learn from the older and more mature Christian women. Being an older woman doesn’t have much to do with age. It has more to do with the season of life you’re in. It amazing to me the wisdom my younger niece shares with me. Her life experiences were much different from mine. There are always women behind us in age or season in life no matter what stage of life we are in. If you look around you, there are women in their twenties and teens, teens and baby girls. There are old married and newly married ladies. There are women who have been Christians for many years as well as new Christians. Sometimes just sharing your story will encourage and make a powerful impact on the life of someone else. Let younger and older women know that you are inter- ested in what’s going on in their lives. Be the godly woman someone wants to be like.
