Every day we make numerous choices, most of which are quite insignificant. There are some critical choices that must be made either directly, consciously, or indi- rectly without much thought. Please read this verse from God’s Word, the Bible. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” Proverbs 16:25
Then, please notice this series of choices that our Lord lays out for us.
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them... Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:12-14
We sometimes call Jesus’ words in verse 12 the Golden Rule. These daily choices pro-
duce much good. We could say there is a the Rule of the Ways. There are two ways upon one or the other all of us humans journey. Which way have we chosen?
If we are candid with ourselves, we real- ize that our choices are frequently not very good. And even when we made good choices, we often seem powerless to follow through. How many “New Year’s Resolu- tions” have been made and broken?
Thankfully there is help. Jesus promises his help if we come humbly to him.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gen- tle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Happiness is walking on the way with Jesus.
