attitude that says, “Lord, your Word is Truth; I’ll submit to whatever you say. Whether I like it or not, whether I feel like it or not, whether I agree with it or not, whether it makes sense or not, I choose to place my life under the author- ity of your Word----I will obey.”
Note: OnceweknowtheTruthandarewalk- ing according to the Truth that we know, God wants to make us instruments to draw others to theTruth. (Ephesians4:14-15,25)
BrethrenaresetfreethroughtheTruth. This vision is expressed in the last few verses of the book of James 5:19-20.
The idea of “turning sinners from the error of their way” is largely foreign in our day. The husband cry of our postmodern culture is “tol- erance,”whichmeans: “Youcanlivehowever you want to live, but don’t try to tell me what’s right for me---- it’s none of your business how I choose to live my life.” As deception has inun- dated our culture, many believers have become hesitant to stand for the Truth, for fear of being
labeled as intolerant or narrow-minded.
Many Christians manifest this “live and let live” attitude, not only toward the world, but other believers who are not walking in the Truth. They don’t want to “rock the boat” or to be considered judgmental. It seems easier just to let things go.
We must remember that in Christ and in His Word, we have the Truth that sets people free. That is Good News! And it is essential news. There’s no other way for those we know and love to be delivered from darkness, deception, anddeath. Ifwetrulycareaboutthem, wewill prayerfully and actively seek to restore them to God’s way of thinking.
We must learn the Truth, believe it, surrender to it, and live it out----even when it flies in the faceofourculture. Thenwemustproclaimthe Truth with boldness, conviction, and compas- sion, seeking to turn sinners from the error of their ways and to restore those who have wan- dered from the Truth.
