THE KEY TO EVERYTHING By Gladys Grimaud | Continued from pg 9
Why do we allow politicians, movie stars, rap- pers or anyone else to whip us into frenzy over race relations while they themselves have little or no concern for the plight of the American family; even contributing to the decline of the American family. Our communities do not need more policemen! We don’t need more protest rallies! We don’t need to enact more hatecrimelaws! WeneedJesusandHisBook, pureandsimple! Aslongaspoliticianscontinue to make policy restricting the message of Jesus Christ, society will continue to spiral down into death, destructionanddisaster! ThePilgrims knew it.
The Pilgrims knew it so well that they decided to take a dangerous journey across the ocean to come to America all for the sake of religious freedom. They knew the risks involved – storms on the high seas, starvation, disease, and unchartedterritory. Theyknewthatnotallof them would arrive safely on the shores of the new world, but they regarded the benefits out- weighedtherisks. Theywerehungryforfree- dom! They wanted freedom to worship God and raise their families to know God and walk in His ways. Today, our religious freedom is hanging by a thin thread, and there is nowhere else to run and hide; therefore, we must wise up andfixupthisplacecalledAmerica. It’stime for community change. Who will join these brave CityLight Esther Teens of Influence withthebraveheartsofthePilgrims? Theyjust want a better life for themselves and their loved ones. AccordingtoWikipedia:

The Mayflower was originally bound for the mouth of the Hudson River, in land granted in a patent from the Crown to the London Vir- giniaCompany. Becauseofroughseas,thede- cision was made instead to land farther north, in what is now Massachusetts. This inspired some of the “strangers” (colonists who were not members of the congregation of religious dis- senters leading the expedition) to proclaim that since the settlement would not be made in the agreed-upon Virginia territory, they “would use their own liberty; for none had power to com- mandthem...” Topreventthis, manyofthe other colonists decided to establish a govern- ment. The Mayflower Compact was in essence a social contract in which the settlers consented to follow the compact’s rules and regulations for thesakeofsurvival. Thefollowingisnotallin- clusive, but here is how it begins:
In the name of God, Amen...
Having undertaken, for the Glory of God and advancement of the Christian Faith and Hon- our of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the First Colony in the northern Parts of Vir- ginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutu- ally in the presence of God and one of another, Covenant and Combine ourselves together into a Civil Body Politic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends afore- said; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute and frame such just and equal Laws, Ordi- nances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have here- under subscribed our names at Cape Cod, the 11th of November, in the year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King James. Of England, France and Ireland the eighteenth, and of Scot-
