WE HAVE LOST OUR MARBLES
By Gladys Grimaud | Continued from pg 11
His words did not fit their ideology...and neither did Jesus’ words fit the ideology of the media 2000 years later...even though this was a historic occasion that had never happened before. Despite the national me- dia ignoring the event, 20,000 people came to Christ and South Carolina was changed forever.
While the event was held in Columbia, people from Charleston and other cities came to participate. South Carolina is a state that leads the way in showing the rest of the nation about how to resolve problems. As the world stands back and looks at Charles- ton now, they are hearing the victims’ families offering forgiveness to the young shooter. They are seeing that the Cross is greater than the gun...that life is better than death...that the words of John 1: 4-9 are true: “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not compre- hend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” There has been a tragedy in Charleston but there is Light emanating from Charles- ton too, and the cross of Christ is a perfect example of how God turns around an evil situation for good. Love never fails. Love never ever fails.
The most devastating movement in Amer- ica now is not racism...though that is a terrible evil... but the concentrated frontal assault upon Christianity. Most recently, a Navy Chaplain lost his privilege to be able to minister to military members because of his Biblical belief on marriage. Our nation has become a house turned upside down.

At a time when we as a nation are having our constitutional rights threatened, i.e. freedom of speech and religion, is it possible that a horrible assassination could play a part in showing us how precious and necessary our Christian faith is to a sane society? Our Founding Fathers knew how important this was and made it the first freedom listed in the Constitution of the United States. The first President of the United States, George Washington, said things like:
“I am sure that never was a people, who had more reason to acknowledge a Divine interposition in their affairs, than those of the United States; and I should be pained to believe that they have forgotten that agency, which was so often manifested during our Revolution, or that they failed to consider the omnipotence of that God who is alone able to protect them.” And:
“What students would learn in Ameri- can schools above all is the religion of Je- sus Christ.” “It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protec- tion and favors.”
In two days, the nation will be celebrating Father’s Day. How ironic that 240 years after the founding of our nation, we see a nation without fathers. The American fam- ily is in shambles. The statistics for unwed mothers are 74% in African American fam- ilies and 45% in Caucasian families! Many are asking, “where are the fathers?” Instead, we have males (I won’t call them men) who impregnate women and run away from the responsibility of fatherhood. Many of them have not had the example of seeing a real man as a father. What our nation needs are men who love God, get married first and then start having children...and last but not least...be there to teach and pray and seek God. Now that’s a real man. I know. I have lived with a real man for 58 years! It was the father’s responsibility in the Old Testament
