to raise the children, and oh yes, the mother’s role was to assist the father in that process. As a nation, we have lost those marbles. Can we get them back? Of course we can when Jesus is lifted up in the individual life, fam- ily, community, andnation. Itstartswithan individual accepting forgiveness from the Christ who paid the penalty for sin.
When Joe and I returned home from a trip to Texas to attend the funeral of my father, you could have heard me all over the house moaning and groaning, “Oh nooooo! Oh no! Oh no! I can’t find my diamond and goldringandsetofearrings!” Itoreupthe house looking for them and never found them. I only wore them on special occa- sions because Joe had given them to me as special tokens of his love for me, and now theyaregone. Vanished. Iwillneversee them again. I grieved for days about the loss, mostly for sentimental reasons. In the final analysis, they are just lost “things”.... notlostsouls. Ifyougainthewholeworld and lose your own soul, what kind of profit do you have? The most important elements of life have remained with me...relationship with Christ, love from Joe, children, grand- children and friends, freedom, persever- ance, integrity, honor, compassion, joy, in- ner peace...and the list could go on and on. Without these, life would be pointless. For a moment, I was like the woman in Luke 15: 8-10: “...suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until shefindsit? Andwhenshehasfoundit, she calls her friends and neighbors together, say- ing, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of Godoveronesinnerwhorepents.” (Evena young shooter who murdered nine beauti- fulpeople.) Itistimetolightalamp, grab the broom and sweep out the filth so that wecanfindthelostsoulsinAmerica. This gospel will fix our nation if the environment of freedom continues to exist.
