my Grand Ma prayed, because I believe it
is through her prayers and my dad's prayers
that we have been a blessed family. It is up to
us who believe to pray for our Mom, broth-
ers, sisters, children and grandchildren to in-
sure that our next generation will be Blessed.
Grand Ma taught my dad to pray and He
in turn taught me and my siblings to pray.
When I came to truly know the Lord and
experience the intimately of the indwelling
of Jesus Christ, some in my family did not
understand and that was difficult for me. I
thank God for the Godly spirit filled people
he placed in my life to disciple me. They
helped me to understand that sometime it's
the people closes to you that cannot accept
the change in you. I continue to pray for
my family members, those who believe and
those who may be struggling.
Sometime we give up on prayer because it
appears that God isn't answering our request.
God is not waiting around for a laundry list
from us. He is waiting for us to communicate
with him. I've witness how God turned trag-
edies into blessings. Lives are being changed.
Miracle are taking place every day.
I happened to be standing in a place outside
of my comfort zone and overheard a con-
versation about the hospital needing some-
one to fill a job opening. The young man I
recommended for the job certainly was not
qualified. He had no experience and had
not worked for a while. He had recently
lost his daughter and was really looking for
a change in his life. He had a lot of ques-
tions? WHY? There are so many things I
can't explain and there is not always an an-
swer to the question, WHY? I know the
tragic death of this child affects him more
than anyone will ever know. Even though
he couldn't say anything to his family, he re-
alized how much they love him because of
their prayers and support he received during
that time. He got the job and is on his way
to making significant changes in his life.
by prayer being communion with God. Co-
lossians 4:2 tells us to, "Devote yourselves to
prayer, being watchful and thankful."
I learned as a child that God is always listen-
ing. He always answer prayers, sometimes
no, sometimes yes and other times you'll
have to wait. He created us for His pleasure
and so that we, as His creation, would have
the pleasure of knowing Him. Prayer is how
we communicate with God. We should give
preference to prayer daily. We give preference
to TV, Facebook or our friends instead of
communicating with our savior. To develop
an intimate relationship with God, we must
spend time with him. If we do not pursue a
deeper relationship with the Lord, He will
become a stranger to us.
Jesus is a perfect example for us regarding
prayer. Jesus was God in the flesh and Deity
Himself. Luke 2:52, tells us, "And Jesus grew
in wisdom and stature, and in favor with
God and man. This means, as a man, He had
a progressive and ongoing relationship with
God. We must note the fact that we should
grow and have increasing consciousness of
our relationship with God the Father, Jesus
did and we should follow his example. He
was constantly in an attitude of prayer to His
heavenly Father and often in a solitary place.
He prayed all night long before choosing his
disciples (Luke 6:12-13). It is my desire to
worship Him.
In responding to Him and His example to
us, I pray that peace be with you. Please
know that when the Esther Women come
together we don't just talk about prayer, we
pray. We request constant prayer for each
other and pray for our families, neighbors
and friends, believing that God's Will will
prevail over our lives, I ask God every day
that He will give us the power to pray as
