His major was Criminal Justice. While
in college, he wrote his first song titled "I
Know a Man". After two years of college,
he dropped out. At the age of 21 he be-
came a truck driver which pulled him away
from home but he continued to write songs.
He eventually took a local driving job and
was able to put together his first male group.
There were seven guys in the group but they
didn't really take the ministry seriously. Mi-
chael was not about to play with the Lord,
so he quit the group. He later started a fe-
male group consisting of three older women,
who didn't take singing the Gospel serious
either. He also left that group.
Haynes asked the Lord for guidance on
what to do and where to go in this ministry
he knew he was called. The Lord remind-
ed him of the song he wrote entitled, "Use
Me". Michael didn't think that he could do
it alone, until God showed him. His first
complete recorded song was "Theft in the
Night"; he then went on to complete his
first album entitled. "Lord I Need You".
Haynes started going from place to place
performing his songs. He took equipment
to play his recorded music and back ground
vocals, while he sang the lead. He grew to
love singing even more. After three years
of faithfully singing alone, God has now
blessed Michael with group members who
are willing and serious about singing "The
Gospel". Haynes has made up his mind to
go all the way with the Lord and no one
can turn him around. He knows he has to
make heaven his home for himself. "I will
sing of mercy and judgment: to You, O
God will I sing".
