Probably most of
you would advise
me not to write
an article for the
Catalyst maga-
zine on politics.
But I have been
accused of going
where no man
dares to tread, so here it goes. I am
writing before the primary elec-
tions. Politics is in full swing in
South Carolina, and many of the
things said about South Carolina
politics are not too laudatory. But
the entire nation is focused on us as
the debates take place between the
candidates.
Now most of you probably know
that I ran for the US Congress
twice, and I lost both times. You
probably also know that I ran on the
Republican Ticket, but if you are
not inclined toward the Republican
persuasion, you have given no indi-
cation that you do not still love me.
And I hope I have never given any
of you the feeling I do not love you.
Because I do. I do because Chris-
tian brotherhood trumps politics in
my book.
But the political process goes deeper
than the word "politics" in our na-
tion. It is only the medium we use,
electing the ones we feel will best
represent us, whether locally, in our
state or in our nation. In that re-
gard, we are blessed. I dare say most
people in the world do not have that
privilege. And I think we should all
be thankful that most of the earliest
settlers of our country were Chris-

Camp COURAGE is a free, one-day camp for any child
or teen who has lost a loved one. Children are often the
"forgotten mourners" in our society and it is for this rea-
son, we are offering a one-day bereavement camp for
children aged 5-18. Camp COURAGE is not intended to
simply "try and make things better," but to let children
know that sadness is normal following a death and that
they are not alone in their grief.
