the Israelites were to offer, among other
offerings (Lev 23:17), represented the
Two Tablets of the Law. God had written
His Law on tablets of stone but so longed
for His ways to be written on the hearts of
His covenant men and women.
Twice in the Book of Ezekiel, God says
"I will give them one heart, and will put a
new spirit within you: and I will take the
stony heart out of their flesh and will give
them a heart of flesh that they may keep
my statutes and keep my ordinances, and
do them, and they shall be my people and
I shall be their God"
(Eze 11:9; 36:26).
When Jesus' blood
was shed for us on
Calvary as our Pass-
over Lamb, and He
resurrected from the
dead on First Fruits,
He brought in the
New Covenant. Ac-
cording to Jeremiah
31:33, this New Cov-
enant is His Law
written in our hearts.
Isaiah 55:10-11 says
"For as the rain and
the snow come down
from heaven, and
do not return there
without watering the
earth and making it
bear and sprout and
furnishing seed to the sower and bread to
the eater; so will My word be which goes
forth from My mouth; it will not return to
Me empty, without accomplishing what I
desire, and without succeeding in the mat-
ter for which I sent it."
The Holy Spirit, the breath of Almighty
God came to dwell within the Believer be-
ginning at Pentecost. God's Word is being
written on the heart of the Believer today,
and it will not return to Him void, but will
accomplish what He desires. As the rain
waters the earth to bear fruit and give seed
to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall
the Word of God produce in you. The in-
dwelling Word of God should be giving
you seed to sow into others' lives and spiri-
tual bread to consume as Jesus reminds us
"man shall not live by bread alone but by
every word that proceeds out of the mouth
of God" (Deut 8:3; Matt 4:4).
Is there evidence of the Word dwelling
within you? Is the Word in you produc-
ing seed which you are sowing into oth-
ers' lives? Does the Word provide constant
nourishment? If His
Spirit dwells within
you and His Word is
being written on your
heart, God says that
word will not return
empty. Jesus says in
the Parable of the
Sower, "but he that
received seed into the
good ground is he
that hears the word,
and understands it;
which also bears fruit
and brings forth,
some a hundredfold,
some sixty, some
thirty."
At Pentecost, we re-
member the giving of
the Law on tablets of
stone, but more im-
portantly, we remember the writing of the
Law on our hearts--He is our God and we
are His people! "Let the word of Christ
dwell within you richly...!" (Col 3:16a)
In next month's issue of Catalyst, we will
touch on another amazing aspect of how
Pentecost applies to the Believer, today.
